Information

Veggiroos are considered a menace to farmers, stealing fruits and vegetables when opportunity strikes. They can shake fruit off trees and break boxes with their powerful kick. Do not be fooled by the fruit growing on their tail-- they are quite poisonous.

These beasts can be found all over the world, but they thrive especially on Volca Isle, the lush soil allowing bountiful amounts of wild vegetation for them to eat. They also oftentimes make their home within the Drip Drupe Jungle, often very speedily retreating deep within the trees after raiding Sunspring Fields. Sometimes, a bold Veggiroo can be spotted wandering within towns and cities.

They are incredibly quick hoppers, very clever, and often travel in groups called a mob. It's thought of as bad luck to attempt to give much chase to a Veggiroo, and it is actively warned against.

Veggiroos are very protective of their offspring sprouts, keeping them close within their basket until they are strong enough to roam on their own. They have adapted to learn how to weave, some theorize by observing Birds of Fortune, which has benefitted their survival by allowing the Veggiroos to keep their young with them if they need to migrate, rather than being forced to stay put and waiting for the saplings to grow in the ground. They have been observed building short-term woven shelters and hammock-like structures when they are not migrating.

Trivia

  • Featured as Beast of the Week on November 24th, 2021, a day before Thanksgiving due to its resemblance to a cornucopia, with theming matching the holiday, including a turkey gif.
  • Volca Isle was partially inspired by (mostly northern) Australia, with the vision of it being a beautiful locale rich with magic and diverse life, but with the flipside of having very "high-level" dangerous creatures. Veggiroo was placed here due to its similarity with red and antilopine kangaroos, who are native to the real-world continent.
