Carl Griffensteed is a Challenger Card that was first seen and printed in the Grotto Beasts! Trading Card Game. The character is a reference to the Jermaverse character Carl Griffinsteed as seen in the Castle Griffinsteed stream and infamous video.

Card Effect
| When you choose attackers or defenders, you may discard two cards. If you don't, Carl Griffinsteed cannot attack or defend until the end of the turn. Carl Griffinsteed gains 3 power as long as you have twenty or more cards in your discard pile. |

Development
- Written by Game Designer J. Evan Raitt:
There was a lot of back and forth if twenty cards was too much, given that requires more than half of a player's deck to be in the discard pile. To compensate, Carl was given the big 3 power to ensure that the card can at least go toe to toe with nearly every other Challenger, making the discard worth it.

- Carl's ability was once a potential ability for Demon Lord Zeraxos, with some major tweaks.
