JEX is a Challenger Card that was first seen and printed in the Grotto Beasts! Trading Card Game. The character is a reference to the Jermaverse character of the same name as seen in multiple Jerma Rumble streams, and makes special guest appearances to the Jerma985 livestreams.

Development
- Written by Game Designer J. Evan Raitt:
When Jerma was designed, it was intended that JEX would have the same card effect, but much better. Obviously not wanting Jerma to have an actually bad card, it was changed to what it is now to fit the theme that JEX is simply so epic, that he doesn't care about the Epic rule.
The way that the effect is written was not exactly a sure thing. The wording is basically the same as Magic: The Gathering's Mirror Gallery, and I wanted to see if I could rework how it read to not be completely blatant. However, it was just too cool to have the entire card effect written on a single line - so the wording stuck.
Trivia
- Jason Rainville had made the artwork for JEX much earlier than the game of Grotto Beasts began as fan art for the character. The original artwork had to be edited in order to be used in Grotto Beasts, as JEX typically wears the Nightwing symbol.
