Grandpa is a Challenger Card that was first seen and printed in the Grotto Beasts! Trading Card Game. The character is a reference to the Jermaverse character of the same name as seen in multiple Jerma Rumble streams and is the person who left the time capsule in the desert for Jerma to find, which contained Grotto Beasts.

The Card

Card Effect

You have no maximum hand size.

Rules and Rulings

Universal
  • If any card effect would increase your maximum hand size while Grandpa is in play, your hand size still has no maximum.
  • Your starting hand size remains six regardless of your maximum hand size at the beginning of the game.

Development

Written by Game Designer J. Evan Raitt:

The effects that allow players to have any number of cards in their hand are always great and typically useful in trading card games. It was very easy to place this on a Challenger, and because the ability to have an unlimited hand size is rarely relevant, even in a game where the number of cards in your hand gives you power to summon things, Grandpa was able to have a low Goal. The idea of putting this effect on Grandpa comes from the idea that Grandpa always tends to have a lot of secrets and information that he keeps from Jerma until it's relevant.

Trivia

  • The photograph in the top right of the card art is a trophy with the letters MLG is in reference to the "Grandpa is an MLG Pro" series.
