Weeniemutts are playful, friendly, and somewhat mischievous beasts. Their size varies by age-- the older the Weeniemutt, the more sausage segments there are. Weeniemutts can be commonly found in most populated towns and cities in the World of the Grotto Beasts, eating scraps of food from stalls and outdoor eateries when they need to. However, these highly social-intelligent beasts often easily earn delicious high-quality cooked prizes for their tricks from adoring denizens around the world, and can befriend almost anyone with their charm.

Weeniemutts are commonly described as stubborn couch-potatoes, fiercely loyal to their favorite friends, and surprisingly speedy-- if they feel like it, of course. Whoever asks them of something they don't quite feel like at that very moment will be met by their famous side-eye.

Written by Art Team Lead Hollulu:

Weeniemutt was inspired by Jerma's dog, Otto, a dachshund mix. Dachshunds are also known as "wiener dogs" or "sausage dogs" due to their long-bodied shape.

The Dots foil style was chosen for Weeniemutt's holographic card to represent both the beast's playful nature, and the confetti in the Carnival Kingdom, a common place they can be found. To further point to this, a Weeniemutt was illustrated in the grotto's artwork.

Written by Game Designer J. Evan Raitt:

At one point, before the Foodie Type, Weeniemutt was a Gruffling Beast like most other canine-resembling Beasts. Once more Food-based Beasts were designed, it was switched out to Foodie. Since Weeniemutt was meant to be very friendly, it was given a card effect that was very friendly with others.
