Information

Development

Written by Game Designer J. Evan Raitt:

The card effect for Mr. Greenz was always intended to reach 21, but the methods of how to score 21 cards changed constantly throughout development. Before the card effect was changed to rolling doubles, the player would score cards whenever they rolled a seven. It was changed away from that to remove the direct allusion to gambling, as well as it was too consistent with Try Another!. Before it was changed, there was an attempt to reduce the number of cards scored with the effect but that only made reaching 21 much harder. So it was determined to allow the player to score a larger number of cards for the trade-off of having to hit a more challenging roll.

Had I had more time, more Challenger abilities would have worked like Mr. Greenz - little contained minigames.

Trivia

  • Slab Mangrave was immediately tapped to do the art for Mr. Greenz due to the previous fanart made of the character.
