The Card

Card Effect

When defending, if Poñata would be
discarded from play during combat, flip a
coin and call it. If you win the flip, move
Poñata to your sideline instead. If you
can't or you lose the flip, discard Poñata
and each opponent draws two cards.

Development

Written by Game Designer J. Evan Raitt:

The first version of Poñata had you roll a dice and avoid landing on a 5 or 6. The coin flip was used instead to make it easier. This card tore apart a lot of our playtests but still felt fair over its lifespand. I think if I could go back I'd remove the sideline component, but overall it's a great tool for any deck.
