Information
Tadpals are friendly tadpole dogs! They have developed an angler on their head to better catch their food, which makes a jingling sound as they energetically scamper around. They are very curious and social creatures, and love to roll around and dig holes in the mud. Tadpals are also excellent swimmers.
They can mainly be found in the Ponderer's Grove and Drip Drupe Jungle-- especially where the two lands meet.
Development
- Written by Art Team Lead Hollulu:
Originally uploaded with the descriptor of a tadpole dog by core artist Sturner on July 17th, 2021, game dev Evan felt Tadpal's design was perfect for a basic Aquatica beast, and they have filled that role wonderfully since early development.
Their power to move the opponent's beasts gives a nod to the biology of the creature, with their anglerfish-like hook on their head resembling a literal angler, or fishing pole.
- Written by Game Designer J. Evan Raitt:
The ability to choose an opponent's Beast and force them to attack started out as a Wish, until the perfect Beast shown up to fit the role of a lure. It was very strong in playtesting but worth keeping as strong as it was.
